    • Called Lily all her adult life. We are assuming Elizabeth is the same person as Lily because there is no GRO index entry for Lily's birth, and she is listed as 11 in the 1891 census with her aunt Jane Wilson, but in 1881 there is only a child called Elizabeth b. 1880 with this family.

      Not found in 1901 census yet.

      She was blind in one eye after an accident pruning bamboo and never liked being photographed. Her faculties were always as sharp as a pin, right up until her death in 1971. She rarely talked about her life or family in the UK. She lived most of her New Zealand life at 3 Keays Road, Whangarei (called 57 Maunu Road in the early days), which is the home I grew up in with her and my parents. [Source: grandson Tim Stelzer]
