    Notes
    • We don't have dau. Mary Jane's birth record, but her name is on her dau. Jessie's birth cert, and Jessie is later listed as Robert's granddaughter. In 1871, MJ and her sister Margaret are visiting [their aunt] Dorothy Richmond in Darlington, without MJ's baby Jessie, who is living with her Wanless grandparents. Mary Jane supposedly died when Jessie was 6, so about 1874-75. It also appears that she had a brief marriage to Charles Aylesbury/Ailsbery/Elsbury, based on the marriage record that names her father correctly as Robert, the location (we know of no other Mary Jane Wan(d)less in the right area at the time of this marriage), and the death of Mary Jane Aylesbury at the right time and the right age.
