    • Why the Wanless middle name? His mother was not a Wanless; was there a Wanless further back on the Macdougald or Boyd side?

      Surname transcribed in IGI as McDougal, and apparently listed that way in the St Cuthbert's marriage register, but in the Dundee marriage record, it looks like John H. Dougal or John A. Dougal - it does not look anything like the other Mc prefixes on the page. Clearly Macdougald in the death register.

    John Wanless Macdougald of Edinburgh, Scotland vs. the estate of his brother Robert
    Some time between 1898 and his death in 1905, John Wanless Macdougald of Edinburgh filed suit to inherit the residue of the estate of his brother Robert Macdougald of Edinburgh. The suit was carried on past his death by his son Robert and was finally resolved in 1918. Here is a series of newspaper articles about the progress of the suit in 1915 and 1918, when it was resolved. (3 pages)
