Neil Wanless of 44 Amberley St .in the Borough of Sunderland died 7 Nov 1878, left under £200
Left everything to wife Mary McPherson Wanless who was to support and maintain his "infant children" and after her death to be divided equally amongst his children.
    Notes
    • Unfortunately, although his 1862 and 1874 marriage certs do say he was a widower and that his father was a shoemaker, it says his father's name was Neil, when it should be David. Also these 2 marriage records do not state his age, only that he is of full age.

Note the naming pattern for his kids:
      Niel/Neil - after himself
Barbara - after his 1st wife
Peter - after his father's alternate name?
Andrew - after his wife's father
Alice - ?? possibly a grandmother of Neil or Barbara?
William Henderson - possibly a grandfather of N or 2nd wife Margaret ?
      David - after his father
Why no Agnes after his mother? Perhaps there was an Agnes who died young...

Descendants of William Wanless & Euphan/Euphemia Boyd, along with around 17 other people, sued the estate of John Morgan in the court of Dundee, Scotland, to try to get their share because Euphan had been related to him. This lengthy case dragged on from 1853 to at least 1858 - we have not found the resolution yet!
