IGI: George Albert Wanless born 5 March 1861 in Huntingdon, Quebec to John G.W. Wanless and Cordelia Richardson Schagel.

Point Fortune was just across the river from Carillon, in Quebec, but part of it lies over the Ontario border in East Hawkesbury Twp, Prescott co. George's wife was born on the Quebec side, but they seem to have lived on both sides, with most of their children being born in Ontario but Wilford in Que.

George A. Wanless & William McKerracher open a "working man's" store in Ottawa (Sept 1914)
22 years ago, Mr. George A. Wanless came to Ottawa from Thurso, Que. to assume charge of the financial end of the T. Lindsay Company store on Wellington street. He remained with the Lindsay Co. until this store became the A.E. Rea(?) Limiited store, when he was appointed to the position of secretary-treasurer, which he held until quite recently. The McKerracher-Wanless store will make it a point of catering especially to the workingham.
